Michael Kirkbride’s small sensitive plein air oils and watercolours are quite a revelation to those of us more familiar with his large figure based oils. They are nicely complemented by Judy Gilley’s vibrant gouache landscapes.” Patrick Cullen NEAC

Michael Kirkbride will be known to many of you for his award winning works. A graduate of the Royal Academy Schools and member of The New English Art Club, his work is primarily about invention, conjuring from the mind’s eye, yet with its foundations in observational drawing. Michael has been working on a new series of watercolours specifically for this exhibition which will also include a selection of his oil paintings. Judy will also be showing new work. Although her landscapes differ in many respects from the visible reality, she hopes that many people will recognise something important for themselves in the paintings, not literally but as an experience or a state of mind.
